4 Years Old

Today we celebrated Lauren's fourth birthday. It doesn't seem like it has been four years since I had an emergency C-section in the middle of a thunderstorm. Lauren has been so excited about her birthday. She didn't sleep well last night, she said she was too excited. Emily woke up first this morning, saying, "Today is Sissy's birthday!" Lauren wanted to open her presents first thing this morning, but Jason convinced her to pick out one present and save the rest for dinner, which is when we traditionally open presents. We got out pretty early this morning to pick up two of Lauren's friends and do fun birthday things. One of the special things about the friends we spent the day with is that their moms came to visit in the hospital after Lauren was born. My favorite part of the day was singing with Lauren, Emily, and her two friends as we drove around town. You can't get much sweeter than little ones singing. Wait, I have another favorite thing about today, while the girls were playing at a play place, I spent the morning and early afternoon reading magazine articles and looking at fashion stuff. I'm not sure why I looked at the fashion magazine since Prada and Chanel aren't quite in my budget. After a day with Lauren's friends, we finished up the day with dinner at Cracker Barrel, Lauren's choice, and a strawberry birthday cake. Throughout the day, Emily kept saying, "My birthday is in January." She was a little jealous that Lauren was the center of attention all day long, but she handled it well. In the car, especially, she kept doing things to try to turn the attention toward her. Now we're two weeks out from my birthday! I've decided to call this my 25th birthday!
