Lauren has been saying some funny things lately. On Sunday, I told her that being a mom is a hard job. Her response, "I know Mom, maybe you should try being a daddy." Evidently being a dad is a piece of cake compared to being a Mom. I felt rough on Saturday and evidently looked it, too. When Lauren saw me, she said, "Mom, you look disastrous." Disastrous? Where did she learn that word? Yesterday, she asked Emily if she'd like thistles for snack. Thistles!!! The craziest thing she's said recently happened when I was fixing lunch last week. My back was to the girls and Lauren said, "Mom, tell Emily that is mean." I hadn't heard Emily say anything, so I thought maybe she was making faces at Lauren, but Lauren quickly said, "Emily said, 'Mean, stupid, Lauren.'" and Emily shook her head proudly as if she'd said it. Since Emily can't say stupid or Lauren the likelihood of Emily saying that is slim to none, but Emily was glad to take credit for it. My favorite thing she said recently was in regards to her birthday. She came in and asked if we could work on her birthday invitations. When I said, "What?" She said, "May 19th, (her birthday) I'm counting on it." I'm counting on it??? If she's saying that at three what is she going to be saying at thirteen? And this is the year I was planning on NO BIRTHDAY PARTY.
