A Week At Home

Wow! The girls and I have been home for more than a week, our longest stretch of the summer to be at home. We enjoyed our travelling, but I think we're all glad to be home and Jason is glad to have us home. It has been good to get back in our Y routine. I need the exercise and the girls love being with the other children. I thought Emily might have a tough time when I dropped her off, but she was so excited to have new stuff to play with.

Emily had her 18mo check-up on Monday. Everything checked out well, but I was a little surprised to see that Emily is in the 48th percentile for her height. Lauren is in the 98th percentile, so 48th seems so small. Emily isn't as verbal as Lauren was at this point, so we were relieved that her 40 words is fine since 4-10 words is the norm at 18 mos. I'm so thankful for my healthy, growing girls.

Emily has started biting Lauren and when I asked Emily to tell Lauren she was sorry, Emily yelled "NO!" Though she doesn't have Lauren's tantrums, Emily is definitely letting us know when she wants her way. She is into everything and as soon as I get a room picked up and move to the next room, she's destroyed everything in the just cleaned room. How does she move so fast?

Things Lauren is doing/saying:
On Sunday night, while singing with the other children in Booster Band, Lauren decided to pull her dress up and hold it at her belly button while singing.
Thank goodness for the motions to "Deep and Wide" that finally prompted her to drop her dress.
Tuesday I took her swimming. I pulled her into water that came up to her waist and she stood in the water screaming, "Someone come help me!!! I'm going to die!!! Please find my dad!!!" I'm sure the lifeguards were relieved when we left.
Tuesday night she said, "Mom, my dad is a real boy. He is a big boy and he can spank you!" Were does she come up with this?
Her new favorite thing: Making up dance routines and performing for us. Not sure what started this either. Too much Backyardigans maybe.

Glad your week at home has been fun! Sounds like the girls are growing fast. It is really funny what 3 yrs. old say now. Lauren says lots of funny things too!
