It got worse!
If you read Friday's blog about the black permanent marker, you know things were CRAZY at our house on Friday. Guess what? Things got crazier. I took Emily to the Dr. on Friday afternoon with black Lauren in tow. I felt kind of silly taking Emily in since we'd just been there on Monday and the Dr. said she checked out fine, but by Friday morning she'd been running a fever for over 72 hours and I knew things weren't ok with her. We check in at 4:30, the earliest they could see us, and once I get checked in the receptionist informs me the Dr. is running 45 minutes behind. Oh well, nothing we can do about that, I was just wishing I'd brought dinner. Lauren quickly made friends in the waiting room and Emily was pretty irritated she had to sit on my lap rather than play. As the minutes ticked by, Lauren's friends were called back and eventually it was just us and some kid's dad in the waiting room. The girls were getting anxious and I was thinking I'm going to feel like an idiot if they tell me there is nothing wrong with Emily. We finally get called back and our nurse is on a marathon to get everything done to get us out so that she can leave. I couldn't blame her, it is well after 5 by this point. As I'm answering the nurse's questions, Emily's diaper leaks all over my pants, the same pants she's spit purple koolaid on out in the waiting room. By this point, I'm thinking I may not come back from Jamaica next week. The Dr. comes in, obviously surprised to see us again in the same week, checks Emily and guess what....Emily has an ear infection in both ears and a touch of pneumonia. He then proceeds to check Lauren to be sure she doesn't have pneumonia, too, which makes Lauren mad because she did not come to see the Dr. Thankfully, she's fine. I leave the Dr.'s office in a daze, prescription in hand, heading for the car, when the wind blows the prescription from my hand. I scream, take off across the parking lot dragging 23 pound Emily, determined I am going to get that prescription, which I view as my only chance of a Jamaican vacation being saved. Yes, I retrieved it safely, with only a few crumples and asphalt smudges on it, sure that anything else that could happen in the few hours before bed would only be anti-climactic. At this point, I'm thinking of contacting the major TV networks to see if they'd like to use my crazy mom life as the basis for a TV sitcom.

You definitely need your Jamaica trip!
Wow! I hope Emily is feeling better. Enjoy your trip and try not to worry about them too much.
