Swimming

Lauren and Emily behaved so well yesterday. Because they were so good, I was able to get our house in great shape, and they even went to bed at 7!!! I wanted to do something fun today to reward them for their behavior, so I decided we'd go swimming at the Y. Lauren has been begging me to go ever since we took our Y tour a month and a half ago. Emily had a blast, but Lauren was terrified. After a little coaxing, I got Lauren into the water, and dragged her into the 2 feet section. She eventually warmed up to being in the water and had fun, but never wanted to go past 2 feet. At one point I pulled her where she couldn't quite touch and tried to teach her how to float on the noodle. That didn't work out to well, and she informed me that she was too little to go in that deep (3ft) water. Emily, on the other hand, loved being in the pool. When I would put her where she could touch, she would immediately get on her stomach and kick her legs. She loved being in her float, too. The pool has lots of fun things in it, like a cococonut tree that dumps water from coconuts and a whale water slide. Lauren would climb up to the top (6 steps), look down, then climb down. No matter how much I coaxed her, she wouldn't slide down. After she saw Emily loving it, she tried it once, but hated the water splashing in her face. Did I mention that the slide was in water a foot deep? I guess we're just going to have to go on a consistent basis and get Lauren used to the water.

As you finish reading this blog, would you pray for my friend Mary Beth and Union University? Tuesday night, tornadoes swept across Union's campus in Jackson, TN, destroying dorms and academic buildings. Mary Beth graduated from Union and is now employed by Union. Please pray for her as she works specifically with international students.
