Emily's ER Visit
Tuesday night I made my first, and hopefully last, ER visit with Emily. She tumbled down our last four stairs on the way to dinner and in true Emily fashion wouldn't let us check her out until she had her dinner. We observed her during dinner and felt like she needed her arm X-rayed. I guess as far as ER visits go this one wasn't too bad. We were there about two hours and Emily was a trooper during the eight X-rays, saying "Cheese" each time the tech took a new X-ray. The Dr. didn't see a fracture, but based on the way she pulled her arm into her chest and the screams of pain when he tried to examine her, he said he couldn't rule a fracture out. We've had her in a splint for the past two days, and I'm currently waiting to hear back from our pediatrician about a referral to a pediatric orthopedic doctor, since she still refuses to use her arm or hand. I'm amazed at how quickly she's adapted to only using one hand, whether playing with her dolls or riding her tricycle.
