What's that sound?
Last week was a busy week. Between Lauren going back to school after Christmas break, getting back into the exercising everyday routine that I fell out of two months ago, and play dates with friends, I couldn't wait for the weekend to come. The girls were supposed to be at my parents for the weekend, but my dad got sick, so my mom came to our house early Saturday afternoon. She walked in and Jason and I walked out. We had a wonderful two hour lunch with friends, then Jason went home to watch the football game and I went to the mall. I can't remember the last time I went to the mall by myself. It was wonderful, but I just didn't have enough time. I did come home with some good deals and I'm sure the new tennis shoes I got helped me burn some extra calories today! I got home from the mall long enough to run in, see the pictures the girls had painted and taste the cookies they baked and then it was back out the door with Jason to a hockey game. Sunday was a whirl, too, with church, lunch with friends, a quick afternoon nap, and then back to church for a long meeting. By bedtime, I was exhausted. Emily woke me up crying during the early hours of the morning, but I was so tired I rolled over and went back to sleep. Evidently, she did too. Then about 4:30 am something woke me up. Don't you love when you know something woke you up, but you aren't sure what? I thought maybe I heard sniffling coming from the girls' room, but the need for sleep was too strong and I was asleep before I could think coherently about the sound. A few minutes later, I woke up to the sound of loud sobbing. I quickly went into Lauren's room and she was crying uncontrollably. I asked what was wrong and she responded with, "I missed you so much when you were at the hockey game!" Isn't that sweet of her? Next time, though, I might pick for her to be sweet at say 7:30 am instead of 4:30 am.
