When the weather turns cooler, I seem to enjoy being in the kitchen more than during the summer. My family's love language seems to be meals made from scratch. Last night we had pork chops with brown rice, spinach salad, carrots, and the star: homemade blackberry cobbler. This summer the girls and I picked up some locally grown blackberries from the farmers market, I froze them, and yesterday seemed like the perfect time to use them. Dinner preparations started off great since Lauren and Emily were zoned in to Arthur and then Alice in Wonderland, but Emily quickly became bored with Alice and so she "helped" me in the kitchen by wrapping her arms around my legs and staying in that position as I tried to move around the kitchen. After being in that position awhile the temptation was too great, and Emily bit a chunk out of my leg. I screamed and she immediately said, "Sowwy, Mommy." Lauren came running down to see what had happened. She told Emily, "Emily, it is very naughty to bite Mama. She cooks!" See what I mean by home-cooked meals being my family's love language. When it came time to try the cobbler, Jason said, "This is awesome!" a few times. Lauren said, "This smells delicious!" took a bite, and said, "This tastes weird." She wasn't a fan of the seeds. Emily had no commentary, just got it all over her face, hands, bib, hair, etc. What's for dinner tonight? I have no idea!

The cobbler looks so good! I bet it was delicious! I love to bake when it gets cooler too. I have such a sweet tooth!
