The soccer star has suffered her first sports-related injury. Tonight at soccer practice, Lauren and the other little girl on the team both went after the ball, collided, and Lauren took the brunt of the hit. When they got up after the collision, Lauren had a busted lip, bleeding and swelling. Jason said she got hit hard and was upset, but managed to get herself back on the field after Jason told her he'd take her for a treat if she could finish practice. This is a perfect illustration of different parenting styles. I am a "get back up and get on the field, shake it off, you're tough!" kind of mom. Jason is a "get on the field and we'll get a treat" kind of dad. I love how we balance each other out. Lauren's first game is Saturday at 11:45.
Lauren had another fun day at school. Her favorite thing today: dress-up. Emily decided she wanted to go to school, too, and cried and cried when she realized she couldn't stay. She cheered up at Walmart, but didn't cheer me up. There's nothing like "Clean up on aisle 2." because you're child dropped a jar of Cheese Whiz. I know, I know, I'm ashamed to admit I even had the culinary wonder Cheese Whiz in my cart, but it works really well in sausage balls.
