Lauren started preschool this morning! She slept in until 7am and when I went in to tell her good morning she said, "Mom, I'm sick!" After about a minute she seemed to perk up and get excited about school. Her only other sign of nervousness was that she kept asking for Emmy to come to her class. After getting dressed, Lauren ate her strawberry pancakes in record time and wanted to leave for school immediately. I convinced her to let me get dressed first, and before I knew it we were on our way to school. I couldn't believe how overcome with emotions I felt. The desire to cry remained as I took her to classroom, helped her hang her backpack, hugged her, and off she went never looking back. I got back in the van and felt a little sad, wondering how my girl could be growing up so quickly. The closer I got to the house, though, the less I felt like crying. After drive times taking her and picking her up, I'm left with two hours to get stuff done. Emily took full advantage of no Lauren, trying on Lauren's shoes and playing with Lauren's backpack. I was so excited to pick Lauren up and hear about her morning. She told me about the two new friends she made and said that playing on the playground is the best part of preschool. I think we're both looking forward to another day of preschool on Thursday!
