Yesterday at Lauren's game, I kept thinking to myself, "Did we sign Lauren up for the wrong thing?" Lauren had quite a bit of playing time yesterday, and a good portion of it was dedicated to practicing her ballet moves. While the other kids were running after the ball, Lauren was at mid-field, spinning, turning, pointing her toe, and showing us what a beautiful ballerina she'd be. She did great practicing before the game and I think that might be part of the problem. After 30 minutes of practice, she was done with soccer by the time the game started. We've figured out a few other things after Lauren's game. At practice every child brings their own ball to practice with, so during the game Lauren doesn't understand why she doesn't have her own ball. We also can't get her to aggressively go after the ball during the game. Why? Because at home we're always saying share with your sister, don't take that ball from her. So how do we help her understand that the soccer game is her one chance to take the ball away and not share?
We had an awesome time at the beach and I'll have a post dedicated to that soon.
