Haircut

Tuesday was a busy day for us. I've not been sleeping well, so waking to the girls, a headache, and rain at 6 am, didn't make for the best start, but once we got going, we accomplished a lot. We went to a nearby town and ran lots of errands. The girls did really well, especially with all the times we got in and out of the car in the rain. The highlight of our day was Lauren's haircut. Usually, getting a haircut is a traumatic experience for Lauren, but yesterday I decided to try a kid's salon. It was amazing. Lauren loved the kid-friendly atmosphere and her stylist was great, constantly praising her for sitting still and listening. Normally, Lauren wiggles a little, and the stylist goes nuts, which make Lauren more stressed and the wiggling increases. We will definitely be going back. If you have little ones who hate haircuts, take it from me, a kid's salon is worth it! The pictures above are from Lauren's first haircut. She's grown so much in a year and a half.

We also picked up Lauren's flower girl dress for my brother's wedding. Lauren is much more concerned with what jewelry she might wear, than the actual dress. Another stop we made yesterday was to a boutique that only carries clothes for petites. I love going in this store, because even though it is pricey, you can usually find a great deal on their $20 sale rack. I got a skirt and shirt that would have totalled over $200 if I'd paid full price. I could tell the lady who helped me was disappointed that I didn't buy anything else and I thought about saying, "Look at these children! It would be crazy to spend $198 on a shirt that will probably have sticky fingers wiped on it the first time I wear it." I just smiled at her though, and walked out happy with my bargain!

After spending yesterday on the move, today should be quiet. Tomorrow we're going to Lauren's school to meet her teacher. I'm not sure who's more excited, me or Lauren!

Glad the haircut went well! She has grown so much just in the past few months. Lauren will be starting a MDO program too when we get back from vacation. It will be good for them and us!
