Emily is on the Move

Now that Emily is walking, she is constantly getting into things. My fun thing for today: calling the pediatrician because Emily may have swallowed a penny. We don't have many small things for Emily to find at our home, but other peoples' homes - a different story. Usually when we go to someone else's home, I try to get a quick feel for what might be dangerous for Emily and we go from there. Today, we were at the Fergusons, for whom I've worked for 8 years. Now that Alden is 8, he has lots of fun things not quite age appropriate for a 15 month old. Emily knocked some ballons off a counter in the playroom and unbeknownst to me, at least one penny fell off, too. Of course, Emily put it in her mouth and I retrieved it and put it where I'd earlier seen the pennies. Uh-oh, where were the other pennies? I was sure I'd seen more than one. Emily happily moves on to an empty bottle of ginger ale Alden had used in one of his many creations, and I'm crazily searching the floor for another penny. Since I wasn't sure if Emily had swallowed the other penny, I decided to go on and call the pediatrician. The nurse consulted with the pediatrician and basically, if she swallowed it, it should come out in the next five days. As if putting money in her mouth weren't enough, after dinner Emily kept eating crayons that Lauren kept sneaking to her. The exclamation point ending to this fun day was Lauren going to the neighborhood playground with my neighbor and coming home covered in mud. No, boys can not get in to more than my girls.
