Easter Celebrations

On Saturday, Lauren, Emily, and I went to our church's Easter Egg Hunt. Lauren and Emily were amazed by all the eggs and came home with full baskets. When it was time to hunt the eggs, Lauren quickly began filling her basket. It didn't take long for her to realize the plastic eggs were filled with CANDY. She began opening the eggs, pulling out the candy, throwing the eggs on the ground, and moving to the next egg, to repeat the process. I guess she thought, "Why fill up space in my basket with plastic eggs?" The candy was what she was after. I think she ate 12 pieces of candy before we went inside after the egg hunt. Then she and Emily listened to Easter stories, played games, and enjoyed lunch. The girls had a wonderful time, but got so hyped up that they didn't take a nap Saturday afternoon. I put both girls down for a nap when we got home. Lauren laid down for a few minutes, then discovered the diaper cream, which she rubbed on her face, in her hair, and on the rocking chair and ottoman. Soon after I cleaned up that mess, Lauren found my mascara and decorated herself and the carpet. Needless to say, I couldn't wait for Jason to get home from his out-of-state visit to his grandad. Our Sunday service was a wonderful celebration of the Resurrection. Jason and the Praise Team did a wonderful job setting the tone for the rest of the service. After church, we had lunch with my mom and dad, brother, Thomas, and his girlfriend and her family. Lauren and Emily were really well-behaved at lunch! I think my favorite memories from Easter 2008 are Lauren throwing the eggs on the ground after she'd confiscated the candy and reading an Easter book with her in the nights leading up to Easter, listening to her sweet little voice say, "Hosanna!"

Those are wonderful memories to cherish. I also enjoyed watching her eat all that candy at the egg hunt!
