Almost three weeks of school under our belts

The first three weeks of school have flown by. After walking her in the first day, Lauren informed me that she could walk in with the big kids starting with school day #2. I dropped Lauren off on day 2, immediately parked in the closest space, power walked into the building and took a sigh of relief when I saw her in her seat already starting on morning seat work. I just needed to see with my own eyes that she made it safely in from the drop-off line to her classroom. This is one of those things I laughed at prior to Lauren starting Kindergarten, but it is a little different when it is happening to you! This week, on different days, I went to a MOPS kick-off and then a Bible Study, both of which were held just outside of Lauren's classroom. I loved knowing that she was so close by. After the MOPS meeting, Emily and I had lunch with Lauren. Upon taking her back to her class, Lauren began to cry. I'm not sure who was more upset by the tears, me or the teacher. Lauren is so easy going and laid back at school. It broke my heart and the teacher's, too. I made myself walk away and Lauren recovered in time for recess! I never dreamed that I could miss Lauren so much during the school day and I definitely owe some friends an apology for thinking they were over the top with the way they acted when their kids went to school. Lauren going to school has been a mixed-bag with Emily. On day 3, Emily said, "Sissy is mine! I don't want her going to school!" Then, earlier this week, Emily asked if we could just skip afternoon pick-up and let Lauren stay at school. I think Emily is enjoying having the TV and toys all to herself. After school, though, the girls play hard. This week the weather has cooled off a little and it has been much more enjoyable. Every afternoon this week we've gone to a park to play. I think I've mentioned this before, I can't believe how amazing the parks here are. Yesterday we went to one with the coolest stuff I've ever seen. I guess the awesome parks are why our property taxes are triple what we paid in Nashville!
