Looking ahead

"If you focus on what you left behind, you will not be able to see what is ahead." Chef Guseaux, Ratatouille

My friend, Priscilla, put this quote on my facebook page Sunday night. Sunday was an especially draining day for me, as we began the process of saying goodbye to our church family at Cross Timbers. My parents helped start Cross Timbers and it has been my church home for the last fifteen years. Jason and I were married there, my girls were dedicated there, we've both taught countless classes and held positions on various boards through the years. Jason has been on the praise team for 8 years, maybe more, and has led the congregation in worship many, many times. Our roots go deep and saying goodbye to those we love and who've loved and supported us for so long is hard. I'm trusting that the Lord has a wonderful church family here for us, too. We just have to find them!

I'm really trying to focus on the good things about our move. That has not been so easy this week. I'm lonely, Jason is working really long hours due some important meetings taking place this week, and yesterday we had issues with our AC.
Regardless of that, there are some great things about our new home that I'm thankful for:
1) Our apt. is in a great location. We are close to many stores, restaurants, and Jason's office is only five minutes away. We are also in a great location to walk and run - and we're taking advantage of this.
2) There are great parks here - one of which is less than a 1/4 of a mile from our apt.
3) We are five minutes from a great library! You know that is important!
4) Lauren will be going to a wonderful school! It is fairly small, and the goals of the school mirror our goals as Lauren's parents. We really believe this school can help Lauren build a solid foundation of both faith and academics.
5) We have a better cable package than we've ever had. OK, so this is small, but when it is 97 degrees outside, I'm glad for good TV for the girls while I make dinner.

I'll add more things as I discover them!

I am praying for you guys. I will never forget moving here and how lonely it was for me at first but I have no doubt that God brought you my way and I will never be able to thank you enough for your friendship. You truly made my transition so easy. I am praying and believing that God is going to do the same for you.

Hey Friend! Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you. I remember feeling that way when Jeff was in the Air Force and we moved to Texas and I was pregnant with Kylee. I spent lots of lonely days in our apartment wondering what in the world God was doing. God placed some very dear friends in our life and a great church family. Praying for all of you as you look for a church and go through this transition!
