VBS

This week I've been directing VBS at our church. I love VBS. I have great memories of VBS as a kid and I hope I've helped some kids make some great VBS memories, too. Our theme this week has been Paul and the Underground Church. Paul has visited us each night, we've visited early Christians in a cave (complete with cave sounds: bats, mice, dripping water, etc.), visited shops in a Roman marketplace, played games, and enjoyed songs and snacks. My favorite part has been the cave. I think it has been a huge success. We've had a couple of scared kids, but most of them can't stop talking about the cave. As much I love VBS, it is exhausting. The past few weeks prior to VBS, I couldn't sleep, because I couldn't stop going over everything in my head. Now that we're in it, I still can't sleep. I'm not sure how much longer I can function on 4 hours of sleep a night, so hopefully the sleeplessness will end soon. It's funny, during the planning stages, I say that I won't direct it again next year, but once we start and I watch the kids, I can't help but get excited about next year's possibilities!
