Mother's Day
Though Mother's Day weekend didn't go exactly like I thought it would, I still had a good weekend. Jason played golf with his dad Friday and Saturday to celebrate his graduation, so the girls and I were on our own. Friday morning the girls and I went to Portrait Innovations to have pictures made. I'm hoping to post them soon. I love Portrait Innovations. Where else can you get their quality with no sitting fee? Taking them by myself for pictures was a little stressful, but the surprise and happiness on Jason's face when he saw the pictures, his graduation present, was worth the stress. After pictures, we headed to the Galleria for lunch and stop at the Disney Store to buy Lauren's princess dress for her birthday party on Thursday. I'm still in shock over the price, but I know she'll only be little once. Then it was home to get ready for graduation. Saturday morning came too soon, and after dragging myself out of bed and seeing what a beautiful day it was I decided to take the girls to the zoo. Jason's sister, Joy, came up for graduation, so she went along. An extra pair of hands at the zoo is a good thing. Emily was super good, so good that I should have suspected something was up. After the zoo, the girls hung out with Jason while I went to a baby shower. When I got home, Jason took us out to dinner at Jim-N-Nicks for Mother's Day. Lauren's was a little too wound up, but Emily was super. After dinner, we went to pick out patio furniture and a canopy for our newly completed deck. (It's only taken a year.) While shopping I started to wonder if everything was ok with Emily. We headed home so I could take Emily temperature. It was 102. So she went to bed and I started the "Do I take her to the dr. or is it just a virus?" routine in my head. Because of her fever, runny nose, and general fussiness, I spent Mother's Day disinfecting my house, making war on germs. The house was clean until Lauren and Jason came home from church. They did bring me nice surprises home. Lauren and Jason went to pick out flowers and since they couldn't agree on what to get I got hydrangeas that Jason picked out and a mixed bouquet that Lauren picked out. Lauren also made me a card that said, "I love my mom because she gives to me. I love my mom more than dinner. The best thing aobut my mom is her coloring." After lunch, both girls fell asleep in Jason's lap. Watching a movie in my pajamas, as the girls cuddled with Jason, I decided that even though Mother's Day didn't turn out like I expected, it was still a good day!
