Recovering from the Weekend

Thanks for your prayers for us this weekend. We had a good visit with Jason's family and the girls behaved really well. The visitation and the funeral were both on Saturday. After being in the van all morning, the girls just wanted to move by the time we made it to the funeral home. They weren't loud and they didn't run, they just wanted to make laps around the chapel. After the hour and a half visitation, the girls had been as good as they could, so we went to the van and watched The Aristocats during the funeral. Sunday, we went to Jason's home church. It is always hard for me to leave my girls in places they aren't familiar with, but Jason's sister was supposed to be one of Lauren's teachers, so I knew she'd be ok. Lauren had already told me she wanted to be at her church with Mrs. Scicilla (Priscilla), and she was scared, but she went in to the Sunday School room and sat down in a little chair. She was doing well, so her Aunt Joy went to help in another room. The teacher said Lauren was listening to the story when he noticed her face get really red and then little tears started rolling down her face. The teacher immediately went to get Aunt Joy and Lauren was fine. We were all exhausted by the time we made it home late Sunday afternoon. Then, yesterday, the girls and I went to the pediatrician. They keep cycling through colds, one after the other, and now some yucky coughing with drainage has started. I was hoping if I took them in, the pediatrician would let me give them some cough medicine. No such luck...this cold is going to have run its course, but at least I know we don't have ear infections or anything else going on. Today, Emily started running a fever, but acts like she feels fine. We have got to get these colds cleared up since we leave for Jamaica in a week and it won't be fun for the grandparents if they have two sick girls.
