As you might recall from an earlier blog, we're trying to eat better in our home. I have to give kudos to Jason, because, even though he wasn't thrilled at first with the changes he is supporting them. He actually ordered Mahi Mahi twice last week, once at Amerigo's and once at The Palm. If you're familiar with those restaurants, you know it would be really hard to go there and order fish because the pasta and steak you could order is amazing. Since we've started our weight loss journey, Jason has lost 10 pounds, mainly due to cutting out Coke. I've lost 7 pounds, but I've had to do a lot more than cut out Coke. I actually made it to the Y 6 days last week!
Last night we had steamed vegetables for dinner. Lauren ate the cauliflower, but after one taste of broccoli, she took it all off her plate, and in a very serious voice said, "Mom, this is really bad." Sometimes she sounds more like an adult than a child. I guess she has some of Uncle Thomas' genes because she refused to eat any more broccoli and spit out the steamed carrots. She didn't care how long I made her sit, she was determined not to eat any more vegetables. Tonight we're having spinach & mushroom manicotti, so we'll see how it goes. One good thing about trying to eat better, is that we're eating a better variety of things and I'm trying out some new recipes!
