Lauren's new bed

We bought Lauren a new bed this week. I picked it up on Wednesday and put it together. Needless to say, I was proud of myself and couldn't wait for Jason to get home from class so I could brag. Yesterday, the girls and I went to pick out a mattress and for some reason, Jason was more impressed that I got the mattress up the stairs by myself than he was that I put the bed together. At first, Lauren was less than thrilled about a new bed, but after hearing us refer to it as a big girl bed, she was more excited about moving out of the toddler bed. Sometime between Wednesday and Friday, she stopped calling it a "big girl bed" and started calling it a "good girl bed." When Jason got home from work yesterday, Lauren couldn't wait for him to see her mattress on her bed. We all went upstairs for Jason to see and try it out. When Jason lay down on the bed, CRACK, two of the rails broke. I'm not sure who was more upset, Jason or Lauren. The mattress is on the floor inside the bed frame, so Lauren's bed has gone from being a "big girl bed" to a "boat bed." Hopefully Jason can get some new rails cut in the next few days. Lauren said, "Daddy, did you break my bed because you didn't like it?" This made Jason feel even worse. Lauren doesn't seem to be permanenty scarred, though Jason's ego may be a little bruised.
